Go Jays!

Our little Emmett is unofficially the littlest Jays fan and has already been to two games . . . one away game in Lincoln and one at home at the Qwest Center. Emmett obviously disliked being in Lincoln (home of the Huskers) and cried throughout most of the game. He loved being at home though and watched (or slept) contentedly throughout the game.

Burping

So far, the biggest challenge is getting Emmett to burp. We had no idea this could be so frustrating! We try to burp him multiple times when he's feeding . . . he's just so unhappy when he has gas in his little tummy. We think he inherited burping skillz from his dad, which makes Rob proud.

Pucker Up

Emmett makes all kinds of funny faces. Our favorite face is when he "puckers up" for us. His little lips are tiny! He doesn't do this face as much now as he did the first two weeks, so we think it's something that he's growing out of. Regardless, whenever we see this face we can't help but laugh.

Emmett is One Week Old!

Sunday, 11/5 was a day of firsts for Emmett. It was his one-week birthday. Can you believe how yellow he is? (He had a bit of jaundice...) It was his first Chiefs game (if you don't count the one he was delivered during). And it was his first experience grilling out. We got our hands on those iron-on tee shirt transfers and created him his own chiefs jersey/onsie. It looks great on him. He's #3 just like his dad. Although the game was pretty good, he spent the majority of the time napping through it (like his mother!). He even napped through his first grilling experience where I tried to teach him the importance of only flipping the meat once to keep from drying out the pork chops. Apparently, he takes after his dad when it comes to falling asleep in "class". Hopefully he stays awake for the next lesson.

Emmett's First "Bath"

I don't know if this is really considered a bath, since he wasn't in the tub. The doc told us that until his cord falls off, we just need to wipe him down over the sink. Regardless, I think this qualifies as a bath . . . and a very traumatic one by the look on Emmett's face.

Baby Emmett Has Arrived

Great News! I have a healthy wife and a healthy baby. . . a baby boy
named Emmett Joseph Haake.

Amber was a trooper, but at least the baby wasn't 10 pounds (like I
was). He registered at 6 pounds 13 ounces, 19.5 inches long, and
scored 8's and 9's on his APGAR.

In addition to being healthy, he has my rugged good looks. Actually,
most people think he looks more like Amber, but I think that's a good
thing.

Click on the link below for a little photo slideshow. I'm working on a
short video and will try to post that soon.
